About
Pasifika Proud Series are digital dance videos designed to engage kids in learning Pacific cultural heritage dance forms and provide schools with digital arts and language resources that can be used to learn about Pacific cultures in an interactive, creative and fun way. In this series, we explore four cultures: Samoa, Kiribati, Fiji, and Tonga. Each culture contains five, 15 minute videos, each video incorporates: - Quick facts about the Pacific country - Pacific greetings, counting, and language - Instructional lessons of a Pacific cultural dance for students to learn (Samoan Sāsā, Kiribati Modern Dance, Tongan Ma'ulu'ulu & Fijian Meke). - Resource booklet that contains posters and activities for students to complete after watching the season. How to use this resource: - The video series can be used to support your school in celebrating Pacific language weeks throughout the year. - There is no specific way you need to do this, for example, you could play 1 video per day for the whole week of the language week OR over the course of a few weeks. - Each video builds on learning a dance that the students and the fāmili can perform to their peers or in a showcase during the language week. - You will receive an in-person workshop with a team of Pacific Creatives during the specific language week, as an opportunity for the students to share and celebrate their learning. We will organise a day and time that suits your school or group.
